Hints :
Do you need to file a tax return?
Many people will file a Federal income tax return even though the income on the return was below the filing requirements. The following will help you determine if you need to file a Federal Income Tax Return or if you need to stop your withholding, so you will not have to file an unnecessary return in the future. The Internal Revenue Service is providing this information as a part of their customer service and outreach efforts to reduce Taxpayer Burden and Processing Costs.
Changing your withholding or/and not filing Unnecessary Returns will save both you and the government time and money. Even if you do not have to file a return, you should file one to get a refund of any Federal Income Tax withheld.
To find out if you are eligible for additional tax savings, give us a call or email us.

It is easier than ever to find out if you qualify for EITC
The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), sometimes called the Earned Income Credit (EIC), is a refundable federal income tax credit for low-income working individuals
and families. Congress originally approved the tax credit legislation in 1975 in part to offset the burden of social security taxes and to provide an incentive to work. When the EITC exceeds the amount of taxes owed,
it results in a tax refund to those who claim and qualify for the credit. To qualify, taxpayers must meet certain requirements and file a tax return, even if they did not earn enough money to be obligated to file a
tax return.
The EITC has no effect on certain welfare benefits. In most cases, EITC payments will not be used to determine eligibility for Medicaid, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), food stamps, low-income housing or most Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) payments.
Self-Employed Individuals or Independent Contractors
Below you will find helpful information answering many questions related to being self-employed individuals or independent contractors.
Who is Self-Employed?
If you are in business for yourself, carry on a trade or business as a sole proprietor or an independent contractor, you generally would consider yourself as a self-employed individual. You are an independent contractor if the person for whom you perform services for has only the right to control or direct the result of your work, not what will be done or how it will be done.
Do I Need an Identification Number?
You must have a taxpayer identification number to operate your business. This is generally your social security number or individual taxpayer number. However, if you have employees and in some other circumstances you will need an Employer Identification Number.
Filing Requirements for the Self-Employed
As a self-employed individual, you may be responsible for completing multiple tax forms depending on your type of business.
